The Clifton Library encourages all individuals who are residents of Clifton, who work, or own property in Clifton to apply for a library card!
Stop by the Circulation Desk at either the Main Library or Allwood Branch. If you are age 18 or older, you will be asked to present both 1 current proof of identity and 1 proof of address to obtain and renew a card. Those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and follow the registration guidelines.
Acceptable proofs of identity include:
- Valid driver’s license
- US Military ID
- Valid Passaic County ID card
- Valid state-issued non-driver ID
- Permanent resident card
Acceptable proofs of residence include:
- Utility Bill: PSE&G, telephone, water
- Cable television bill
- City tax bill (required for non-resident property owners)
- Current bank statement
- Car insurance
- Payroll stub
All items presented should be current from within the last 30 days.
People employed in Clifton may receive a free courtesy library card by presenting one of the following items together with a proof of their identity and proof of their home address:
- Current dated letter from employer on company letterhead
- Most recent pay stub with employer’s Clifton address
If you live outside of Clifton, you will be able to use the library card from your hometown if it is up-to-date and part of our Open Borrowing network.
Individuals not entitled to a free card may join the library with full in-house privileges, including the use of Museum Passes, for an annual fee of $50.00.
Lost cards can be replaced for $3.00. It is important to advise the Library if a card is lost to avoid misuse if found by someone else.
William Paterson University students may use their valid school card if they do not have a hometown card from within the Open Borrowing network.
