Things To Do
Please check the website calendar for the most up-to-date information on library-sponsored and community group-run programs, only some of which are mentioned on this page!
Homebound
If you are a Clifton resident (or someone who cares for one) who is temporarily or permanently unable to visit the library in person due to illness or you reside in a nursing home or assisted living facility, you might qualify for free delivery of books, DVDs and CDs that are not marked ‘new.’ Visit our Homebound page for more information and application instructions.
Book Discussions
The Library has two book discussion groups:
-One that meets the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the Allwood Branch;
-and another that meets the third Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the Main Library.
Copies of featured titles are available for checkout in their respective branches. Readers might also be interested in using Novelist to explore reading suggestions and reviews. You can also take a look at BookPage, which we subscribe to in both print and digital versions.

- Bridge group: 11:30 a.m. on Wednesdays in the Allwood Branch

Career and Small Business Resources
Learning Express
Peterson’s Test and Career Prep
Small Business Reference Center
The Clifton Public Library is partners with SCORE, which provides free mentoring and education to entrepreneurs and small business owners. One-on-one counseling is available weekly by appointment in the Main Library (phone 973-772-5500), and special workshops are given periodically throughout the year.
ESL/Language Learning/Citizenship
We offer materials for language learning and citizenship test preparation, such as books, DVDs and audio CDs that may be checked out from the library. Due to demand, we are trying to re-establish the Conversation Club that we had a few years ago; this will take some time. Please check back periodically.
Some local organizations have offered ESL classes in the past.
