The Library is more than just a place to borrow materials; in many ways, it functions as a community center. Here are some activities to take advantage of:


  • Attend a book discussion meeting, held every third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m.alt in the Main Library Community Room.
  • Learn to play bridge at bridge club meetings Wednesdays at 12:00 noon in the Allwood Branch Community Room.
  • Catch a movie – for free! – at least once a week in either the Main Library or Allwood Branch. Check the Calendar for the monthly schedule.
  • Practice your English in our Conversation Club, held every Saturday at 10:30 a.m.alt in the Main Library Community Room. Make use of our ESL Collection and Foreign Language books.
  • Show off your talents or hobbies with an exhibit in our gallery and showcases.

  • Take advantage of our local history resources to work on your genealogy project.alt

  • Using our career collection for inspiration, type your resume on our computers, then email it to prospective employers or FAX it for a nominal fee.

  • Use our WiFi to work on your own laptop.

  • Attend some of our special programs (check the Calendar).

  • Book your club’s next meeting in our Community Room.

  • Browse through any of the 300+ magazines and newspapers the library subscribes to. Check out back issues to enjoy reading at home.

  • Place your name on our Bestsellers List and have holds placed automatically on the newest works by popular authors.alt

  • Phone the library’s reference desk with your quick questions.

  • Request Homebound Service if you are unable to come to the library due to a physical disability.

  • Help get your new business off the ground by scheduling a free personal business counseling session with SCORE mentors.


Make your library card work for you! Are you aware that your Clifton Library card gives you the power to:

  • Request hard-to-find materials through Interlibrary Loan? (If we can’t get it through PALS Plus, altwe can look statewide, and then nationwide!)

  • Place your own holds and renew material through our catalog?

  • Access research databases from your home computer or Internet-capable mobile device?

  • Download audiobooks, e-books and digital magazines?
